Audience feedback
“I was quite stunned… I’m not sure what I was expecting, but I was so moved. Some of the things I loved: a beautiful quietness and slowness (a great relief to the often continual ‘drama’ in many plays of recent years). It seemed quite ‘radical’ to me in that sense – confident and brave. Despite the quietness, I was continually gripped by the relationships as well as wanting to know what was going to unfold; the performances were brilliant; the set was intelligent and thoughtful maximising the visual effects, the visuals overall were smashing; sound was excellent and the lighting subtle and very effective.”
Marilyn Ricci (audience member at Lakeside Arts Centre, Nottingham).
“New Perspectives should congratulate themselves on the quality/professionalism of this production. I know most of the audience personally and the conversations about this performance didn’t concern actors in roles, but the characters in the play, showing that the individual acting in the roles totally captured the imagination. To achieve this, in a small village hall, was a tour de force. Congratulations, also, to the ‘crew’ and the production team – the sound and lighting were spot on – and the set design was incredible- five scene settings, conjured up magically on a set 6 x 6 metres!”
Mike Beard (audience member and promoter, Lower Broadheath, Worcestershire)
“An outstanding piece of theatre – keenly observed, and beautifully directed, staged and acted – it explored the real tensions and prejudices that can exist in rural communities. This is so worth seeing”
David Lane, audience member at Tideswell and Live and Local promoter
“Outstanding… stunning…. We have National Theatre Live in our village hall, and it’s as good as anything we’ve seen from them”
Audience member, Tideswell.
“It is many years since I’ve seen an audience engaged so much by a piece of theatre”
Audience member, Tideswell
“Recently we have had access to “Live Theatre” [in the village] from the National Theatre etc. Tonight was every bit as good. Thank you and congratulations! New Perspectives are always brilliant and always moving. You make me cry, laugh, ponder and think deeply. Minimal props but maximum effect. Brilliant!”
Audience member, Tideswell
“That was a very well conceived piece of theatre. One of the best things I have seen”

“Perhaps the best performance in 25 years in our village hall”
